Throughout the memoir, David Sheff uses many popular culture references to interests of Nic (e.g., music, movies, books, etc.). Do you think the "heroes" (Kurt Cobain, etc.) chosen by Nic influenced him to use drugs? Explain why or why not.
I think they did because since he was such a huge fan of his he was influenced to try his hardest to become like him. Nic knew drugs were wrong just like Kurt Cobain did but he did them anyway. This just proves that sometimes your idols can get you to do bad things. Khylil M
I do honestly believe Nic's "heroes" influenced him to do drugs, because if you think about it Nic looked up to David a lot. Which considers David as one of his heroes and the fact that David tried to warn Nic about how bad the drugs were,he still letting Nic know that he also did drugs. Nic also already had some knowledge about doing drugs, but he still insist on doing them just as David and Kurt Cobain. Cammy K.
Yes I do. Nic's dad David was considered a "hero" to Nic. He wanted to be just like his dad in some way shape or form. When David told Nic that he used drugs back in high school, in my opinion Nic believed he should do the same. He saw that his dad turned out okay and nothing happened to him so why not do it to. That's how I see it.
